Editorial Policy

How PrinterSage guides are researched, written, reviewed and kept up to date.

Purpose and scope

Our guides help everyday printer owners make informed decisions and use their printers confidently. We publish a smaller number of thorough guides rather than many near-duplicate pages, and each guide answers one clear question, from buying decisions to setup, everyday use, consumables and safe maintenance.

Who writes the guides

Guides are published under the byline “PrinterSage Editorial Team”. We don’t list individual author profiles or claim professional certifications, and we don’t claim to have tested or reviewed specific products.

Use of AI tools

We use AI writing tools to help outline and draft guides. AI output is never published unreviewed. Every guide is checked for accuracy, safety, impartiality and clarity, and anything that can’t be supported is removed or phrased generally with a pointer to official documentation.

Accuracy and safety standards

  • General vs model-specific: we say when steps vary by manufacturer, model, operating system or app, and point to the manual or the manufacturer’s support site for exact menus and button sequences. We don’t invent error codes, specifications, page yields, prices or compatibility claims.
  • Impartial buying advice: we explain trade-offs instead of naming a “best” printer, and we don’t publish rankings, ratings or reviews.
  • Safe, user-level steps only: loading paper, replacing supplies, clearing jams through the doors designed for it and running the printer’s own maintenance tools. We never describe removing panels, touching hot or high-voltage parts or bypassing safety switches.
  • Software and security: drivers and apps only from the manufacturer, Windows Update or Apple; we never suggest disabling antivirus or firewall protection or using “driver updater” tools.
  • Honest limits: no guaranteed fixes; every guide explains when to contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.

Sources

We rely on manufacturers’ support sites, Microsoft and Apple documentation, and industry bodies, and list the relevant pages under “Documentation and sources” at the end of each guide. We write in our own words and don’t copy manufacturer or competitor content.

Independence

No company pays to appear in or shape our guides. The site does not currently carry advertising or affiliate links. If that changes, commercial content will be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial decisions, and this policy will be updated.

Updates and corrections

Each guide shows when it was published and, if it has since been revised, when it was updated. If something doesn’t match your printer or looks wrong, email support@printersage.com with the page address, and we will check and correct it.
